CashToTime

About Us

Financial education through the lens of time

Our Mission

We believe that true financial literacy does not start with spreadsheets — it starts with understanding what your time is worth. CashToTime was built to help people make conscious spending decisions by translating every price tag into the universal language of life-hours. Our goal is simple: give everyone a free, instant, and privacy-respecting tool to see the real cost of any purchase — measured in the only currency you can never earn back.

Who We Are

We are a small team of developers and financial education advocates based in Germany. We come from backgrounds in software engineering, behavioral economics, and personal finance coaching. What unites us is a shared belief: that financial awareness should be accessible to everyone, regardless of income level, language, or education. We built CashToTime because we saw a gap — plenty of budgeting apps exist, but none that make the cost of spending instantly visceral.

Why We Built This

The average person makes dozens of spending decisions every day, most of them on autopilot. Research in behavioral economics shows that reframing costs in time rather than money reduces impulsive spending by up to 35%. We wanted to take this academic insight and put it into the hands of real people — for free, in multiple languages, with zero data collection. Every calculation runs in your browser. We never see your income, your purchases, or your decisions. Financial education should empower, not surveil.

Clarity

One number, one truth: how many hours of your life does this cost?

Empowerment

We do not judge your spending. We illuminate it so you can choose consciously.

Accessibility

Free, multilingual, no account required. Financial awareness has no paywall.

Education

Backed by peer-reviewed research in behavioral economics and time-value theory.
